Tops Markets, LLC is a leading full-service grocery retailer based in the Buffalo, NY area. Though our story goes as far back as the early 1920’s, our first modern supermarket with the Tops name opened its doors in 1962 in Niagara Falls, NY.Though our ownership has changed over the years, the one thing that has remained constant is our commitment to serving the communities in which we operate.  Our most recent return to local roots began in the fall of 2007, when current president and CEO, Frank Curci led a deal with Morgan Stanley Private Equity that returned us back to local operation.  And in November, 2013, six members of the Tops’ executive team, led again by Frank Curci, purchased the company from Morgan Stanley private Equity, returning Tops back to complete local ownership.  Since 2007, we have grown from 76 stores to over 170 full-service supermarkets spanning Upstate New York and the Hudson Valley, Northern Pennsylvania, Western Vermont, and Massachusetts, and we now employ more than 16,000 associates in our stores, corporate offices, and distribution center.  We operate stores under both the Tops Friendly Markets banner, as well as our new specialty food market Orchard Fresh.  We are currently the 30th largest supermarket chain in the U.S.Because of this growth, millions of dollars have been pumped into local communities and thousands of jobs have been created – all because of the success of a local grocery store and the passion of the people who believe in Tops’ success.
