Astrotech (formerly known as Spacehab) is a science and technology development and commercialization company that launches, manages, and builds start-up companies. It operates through four wholly-owned subsidiaries: Astrotech Technologies, 1st Detect, AgLAB, and BreathTech. Astrotech Technologies owns and licenses the intellectual property related to the Astrotech mass spectrometer technology. 1st Detect manufactures explosives and narcotics trace detectors used at airports, cargo and other secured facilities, and borders. AgLAB develops a series of mass spectrometers for use in the hemp and cannabis market to optimize yields in the extraction and distillation process. BreathTech develops a breath analysis tool to screen for volatile organic compound (VOC) metabolites found in a person’s breath that could indicate an infection, including COVID-19 or pneumonia.
